City, District and Regional Councils are great sources of information. Some councils have produced a wide range of material which is well suited for using in the classroom. If your local councils have not produced much environmental information contact councils outside your area, many of the resources produced are useful both locally and nationally.

Some Councils also run class programmes that can take place outside the school or in the classroom. Check the regional councils websites in their education/school sections, or call your regional council.
Examples of class programmes:
Environment Waikato - Streamsense and Rivers and Us
Auckland Regional Council - Parks Education Programmes

Some councils produce school newsletters....contact them to receive a copy....
Canterbury Regional Council - Newsletter for Teachers
Environment Waikato - SEEN & EnviroCare
Gisborne District Council - A Word From Willy & Conservation Quorum
Hawkes Bay Regional Council - An Environmental Lunchbox
Southland Regional Council - The Squarwk & Brucie's Buddies Bulletin
Wellington Regional Council - Planwell for Schools, Community and Business

Write to councils to receive a list of the resources they have available, or search for info on their sites or at www.eednz.org.nz
