Hugh Roberston, head of the Kiwi Recovery Programme, is holding a Little spotted kiwi.
This little kiwi lives on Kapiti Island.
Here's Hugh again. What's he doing?
Hugh is getting hold of the kiwi's legs so he can weigh it. It is part of the kiwi's check-up.
And who's that beside Hugh?
It's Olly!
Olly is part of the Kiwi Recovery Team.
Olly helps Hugh to find kiwi in the forest.
Here's Hugh weighing the kiwi.
The kiwi doesn't stay upside down for very long, and Hugh will put the kiwi back in its nest when he has finished making sure it is healthy.
These photos were taken in March 2000 on Kapiti Island. Kapiti Island lies off the Kapiti Coast, North of Wellington.
